Deck Building Strategies to Save Time and Money

Posted by System Admin on

In recent months we’ve seen a raft of new Magic: The Gathering product releases as Wizards of the Coast ramps up their product release schedule this year. In addition to the standard set cycles, we’ve got new supplementary products such as Conspiracy: Take the Crown, Commander 2016, Planechase Anthology, and then later into next year we have Archenemy: Nicol Bolas, Commander Anthology and Modern Masters 2017. This is all in addition to the usual From the Vault and Duel Deck releases.

Admittedly, not all of these products are going to appeal to everyone, but your wallet may be under some pressure if you want to keep up with all the latest cards and reprints that these sets offer. This is where Untapped Realms can help you by offering you the ability to pick and choose the cards that you actually want to build your decks.

Magic was designed as a trading card game, and this means that you’re not really going to get all the cards you want for your decks by simply going out and buying booster packs. The original intent was that you could trade with other players to acquire the cards that you want. However, this is not always an easy or even feasible process these days. It will almost certainly take you a considerable amount of time and effort to find someone with the cards that you want, and you’ve got to hope that they want the cards that you have to trade. When Magic started out and there were only a few hundred cards, then trading for the cards that you wanted probably wasn’t all that difficult. Today, however, we have a pool of cards numbering more than 16,000, so finding the perfect trading partner can be very time consuming.

Time is not the only cost you’ll need to consider. There are lots of good reasons to buy and crack open booster packs. For one, it’s fun, and like a lottery, you never know what goodies you may find. At the end of the day, however, it’s never going to make financial sense. You are always going to end up paying a lot more than you need to, to get the cards that you actually want. You’re also going to end up with boxes of cards that you really don’t need or want.

Everyone has a limit on how much time and money they can spend on a game like Magic, and just like you spend time optimizing your card strategies to build the perfect deck, you should also be optimizing how you spend your money in order to get the best value in terms of your budget and time available.

In today’s world, where spare time is harder to find and we all want the best value from the money we spend, buying all your singles from Untapped Realms can make a lot of sense. This means buying all the cards you want, including commons and uncommons, rather than opening boosters and getting a random selection of these cards. At the end of the day, you’ll only need to buy just the cards you want and you won’t end up with piles of cards that you don’t want. You’ll also be saving time which can be used for actually playing the game, rather than trying to trade away the cards that you don’t want.

So, why not start saving time and money today, and use all that extra time you’ll have to build the perfect killer deck for this week’s Friday Night Magic event.
